Happy new year!

Monday, December 31st, 2007

New year, new possibilities, and more flying.

Here is a great firework from the “MANOWAR – the absolute power live” final. Turn up the volume and enjoy!

Alternatively, follow the link HERE for a higher quality version of the video. It is 61 mb so it will take some time to load, but is well worth it.

One lucky pilot!

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

Bad weather and no flying here in Norway, at least for me. So caused by lack of anything new to report I might as well share another hang glider video.

The pilot in this video was more than lucky. No point playing the lottery the upcoming year – he spent all his luck saving this situation.

Notice, however, how the camera operator lowers his camera just at the most exciting moment. This is something you will see on almost every video filmed by an amateur. I know I also do this when things heat up; strange reflex.

National team pilot Dag Ring has made a nice photo collage and video from hang gliding in 2007.

Pre-Worlds in Laragne

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

I tried to register for the pre-Worlds in Laragne today after the deadline for the priority team registration was out. I think that the number of pilots in the competition will be limited to 120, and with the number to team pilots registered and a waiting list of pilots long as my bar tabs I do not have too high hopes of attending. Still, it would have been fun flying in Laragne again, I spent the Easter holiday there flying in 2002.

New Aeros Target 16

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Aeros has announced a new developement of the Target school glider/floater. The biggest update seems to be that the frame now is from 7075 aluminum. In addition, Aeros has added bigger under surface sail and new colour design. Also it will be provided with a streamlined a-frame including profiled Finsterwalder uprights. As far as I can remember, this latter was also an option before. The Target our hang glider club bought in 2001 was delivered with streamlined uprights.

Information from Aeros HERE.

Week old news but worth mentioning anyway. Jon Gjerde was 2nd at the Open de Canarias comp held at Lanzarote December 3rd – 8th. A good result at Jon has been out of flying most of 2007 due to a shoulder injury. Complete from the comp HERE.

Pictures from the comp HERE. Photos by the local club as far as I know.

Nice glider video

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

Bad weather, late autumn, lack of motivation, and so on. So not much flying. But here is a cool glider video that can help kill some time (source: Ozreport forum).
